Our Tutors
We have recently faced the weight of high school courses and exams. We understand the frustration of balancing different extracurricular activities. We also know what it takes to succeed in this competitive environment. Older tutors often do not understand how contemporary classes are structured, but we have sat in those classes ourselves! For that reason, our curriculum incorporates our expertise gained from our most recent high school experience. Our services include: administration of mock exams, distribution of practice material, establishment of a planned schedule.
Harish Appiakannan
Kunal Gupta
Harish Appiakannan is a part of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's (RPI) BS in Biology program. He is an experienced tutor who enjoys using fun techniques like challenges and games to help a student learn. As a tutor who becomes invested in how students accomplish their goals, his tutoring experience includes being able to teach a student about applications of subjects they are learning, not just memorizing a simple theory. He has a passion for embarking on new challenges and making concepts easier for students. He has scored 5s on many of his AP Exams, had a 4.3 GPA at SBHS, and scored a 2300 on the SAT (1540 M + CR). At RPI he is majoring in Biology with a minor in Psychology; he has a 3.95 GPA and is actively pursuing research at AMC. Many students have said they have improved grades and test scores after his lessons. Harish specializes in tutoring for the SAT, Biology, and various AP courses. He has spent countless hours volunteering at Saint Peter's University Hospital and as an EMT at KPFARS.
Kunal Gupta will be double majoring in economics and political science as part of the Honors Program at George Washington University. He is an experienced tutor who has created lesson plans, powerpoints, and tests to give students supplemental material to succeed in the classroom. He believes that his job as a tutor is to help his students find the path to success by teaching them study skills and analytical skills that are applicable to all areas of study. His accomplishments include serving as the Director of Fundraising of the SBHS Junior Statesman of America Club. His leadership experience includes multiple years of private tutoring, coaching tennis to young children, and instructing a Computer Skills course at the Senior Center. With a 2380 on the SAT, 35 on the ACT, and multiple 5s on AP exams, Kunal specializes in tutoring for the SAT, ACT, Business courses and various AP courses. With a 4.4 GPA in high school, Kunal has a passion for guiding students and leading them towards the path to success. He has spent countless hours volunteering as an EMT at MJFAS and at several senior centers.
Aman Kalsi
Aman Kalsi will be attending the Honors College at the University of Maryland-College Park to pursue a degree in Computer Science as well as Business Analytics. His accomplishments include founding the SBHS Computer Science Club, hosting SBHS's very first hackathon and serving as the Media Coordinator of the Asian Cultural Club. Aman has achieved many 5s on his AP Courses such as AP Calculus and AP Psychology. With an ACT score of 35 and a 4.3 GPA, he specializes in tutoring for the ACT. He enjoys programming and is currently working on an app for the Android Market.
